To create a brand identity for the inaugural Indigenous Festival of Ideas, that was to be showcased alongside the Aotearoa New Zealand Pavilion in Dubai.

A Tohu that could resonate with Māori and other First Nations people around the world and carry the inaugural Indigenous Festival of Ideas at Dubai 2020 and beyond. This kaupapa creating a special platform and future for indigenous aspirations.

Our idea was to create a tohu that could uphold the mana of the kaupapa, but also be familiar to others with a strong pūrakau, the story being interpreted as the many paths, an anecdote from Ngāti Kahungunu rangatira Ngahiwi Tomaona shared through the design process.
